The Isobus-controlled system moves the front mower position relative to the predicted position of the tractor's front axle and the following mounted mowers.
Pottinger says this eliminates undercutting on tight turns where the rear mowers track to follow the tractor, but the front mower moves in a wider arc. The position of the mower is hydraulically controlled using an Isobus connection to the rear mowers, which in turn are supplied information on the machine position from steering sensors and GPS receivers. Currently, the system will only work in conjunction with a matching set of Pottinger rear mowers, and cannot operate as a stand-alone system as the front unit lacks the communication unit and direct Isobus connection to the tractor.
