草榴社区 across England, Scotland and Wales have faced unimaginable pressure from Storm Babet with damage to their crops, businesses and homes.

The Met Office had issued a ‘danger to life' weather warning on Thursday (October 19) and Friday (October 20) covering parts of East Scotland including Angus, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire which expected ‘significant disruption' from heavy rainfall and severe flooding.

Winds reached 70mph - along with heavy rain and flooding - with many farmers across the country contending with the lasting consequences from Storm Babet.

Police Scotland confirmed 57-year-old Scottish farmer Wendy Taylor had died in Brechin on Thursday during the storm.

Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf has visited flood-hit residents in Brechin following exceptional rainfall over the weekend.

Scenes from social media have depicted waterlogged fields, crops, roads and flooded homes with efforts from communities, police and fire rescues aiding those in need to safety.

Flooding has also affected parts of England including Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Suffolk.

However, The Environment Agency (EA) has said flood warnings would remain in place until Wednesday (October 25) in Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Wales.

An estimated 1,250 properties have been affected by flooding so far, EA confirmed.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency said no further flooding is expected over the next three days, but did state there would be the possibility of ‘localised impacts' from rivers and surface water in North East of the country due to heavy rain.

The RSABI has opened a with £1,000 available per farming family business for those who experienced 'greatest loss as a result of the extreme rainfall and flooding'.
