Freshways announces August increase

Freshways has announced a 3ppl milk price increase from August 1, taking its standard litre price to 40ppl.

It follows a 2ppl increase from June 1.

In a letter to farmers, managing director Bali Nijjar said the reason for the delay was due to a ‘number of factors'.

"Milk supplies have remained subdued across the entire continent during 2024, and this is likely to continue," it said.

"These factors combined is driving the current dairy market improvement and has influenced our sixth milk price increase announcement made so far this year.

"We remain in constant dialogue with customers to explain the difficulties on farm to help support longer term supplies."
