The sale leader by Carry House 281/N056 and in-lamb to Carry House Ronaldo 281/P001 was knocked down to G. P. Taylor, Appleby.
Judge, Jason Mills, Co. Antrim, gave the champion rosette to Gary Thornborrow, Easter Dawyck, Peebles with a homebred gimmer hogg. By the 8,000gns Steel 3565/R005, it was knocked down to D.I.L. and E. Jones, Brecon, for 1,000gns. Reserve Bluefaced Leicester was a gimmer hogg from John Lord and family, West Dowgill, North Stainmore, which sold for 4,000gns to S. Procter, Kirkby Stephen.
Stephen Bland and his daughter Rachel Bland, Gaisgill, claimed the Rough Fell championship with a one- crop ewe. In-lamb to RF3299 Brownber Bombshell and scanned for triplets, it sold for 400gns to R.C. Lowery, Millom.
Reserve champion Rough Fell was a shearling from Brian Knowles, Kendal. Out of a Brownber Unimog ewe and by RF3719 Birkhaw Emerald, it was knocked down at 1,000gns to E.J. and L.E. Williams, High Peak. A charity auction was held by the Rough Fell Sheep Breeders Association with £1,900 raised for the Crohn's and Colitis UK.
Champion Cheviot went to Keith Stones and family, Richmond, with a North Country Cheviot in-lamb shearling by South Lund Vanished. Scanned for twins to Knockcocher Dynamite, it sold for 450gns to P. and R. Saunders, Ambleside. Reserve Cheviot was another from the same home, an in-lamb shearling which sold for 450gns to G. Nelson, Kendal.
The reserve Herdwick, a shearling from D. Thompson, sold for £150 to S.M. Rigg, Richmond.
The Brogden family, Brough, claimed the Swaledale championship with a one-crop ewe by Kisdon Odyssey. It sold in-lamb to Helbeck Unique for £700 to E.W. and J.R. Parkinson, Dunsop Bridge. Reserve Swaledale was a three-crop ewe from Tom and Kay Hutchinson, Forest-in-Teesdale, which sold for £500 to L.M. Staley, Kirkby Stephen.
Top price in the Dutch Spotted ring went to the first prize gimmer shearling, Bank Hall Flame from J.G. Morton, Penrith, which sold for 1,350gns to D. Barr, Sussex. Jack Dixon, Grayrigg, took home both champion and reserve tickets. The champion was Grayrigg Foot Emma Rose, an in-lamb ewe by Navac Blacklaw Concrete which sold for 1,000gns to C.B. Capstick, Grange over Sands. Grayrigg Foot Emerald Star stood reserve, another in-lamb ewe which also sold for 1,000gns to the same home.
