A dog owner has been sentenced at court after admitting to livestock worrying offences in Cheshire.

Cheshire Police's Rural Crime Team said a female from Macclesfield had pleaded guilty to being the owner of a dog which had worried livestock and caused unnecessary suffering to an animal on Friday (December 15).

The female had also received a contingent destruction order under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 - which means the dog could be destroyed if the owner fails to comply with the order.

Officers said the dog must be muzzled securely when in public.

The court ordered the dog owner to pay a total of £790 in fines and court costs.

Police constable Jim Clark said it was the second court case within the space of a week.
