Firefighters have saved three piglets from a fire in Whitby which caused ‘extensive' damage to a barn.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended a fire at a farm in the village of Castleton at 12.18am this morning (December 5).

Crews from Danby and Lythe said the owner had managed to release pigs inside the barn at the time of the fire which measured approximately 30ft by 40ft.
After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters managed to rescue a further three piglets.

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the cause of the incident was due to an electrical fault.
Fire crews used a hose reel jet, thermal imaging, lighting and pitch forks to deal with the incident which caused ‘100 per cent fire damage' to the barn.
