POST mortem reports consistently show that the increase in sudden deaths in lambs in the autumn is down to pasteurellosis.

THE three days of Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association ‘C’ District ram sales at Kirkby Stephen topped at 60,000 for Mark Nelson from the Bull and Cave flock, Clapham.

A top price of 35,000gns and an average of £6,683.85, up £905.87 on the year were the highlights of the sale of Limousin cattle at Carlisle.

A new world record price of 20,000 for a working sheep dog was set at Skipton’s online sale, along with new records of 4,200 for a sheep dog under ten months old and 3,700 for a sheep dog pup.

The Stronach family’s Islavale Simmental herd has become well-known across the UK for producing leading prices at Stirling bull sales. Katrina Macarthur paid them a visit. 

A new breed record of 18,000gns was set for a Herdwick ram at the Keswick show and sale on behalf of the Herdwick Sheep Breeders Association at Cockermouth.

TWO lambs selling for 30,000 apiece and ram lambs averaging 2,206, a 766 increase on the year, were the highlights of the Bluefaced Leicester sale at Hawes.
